Hermann Meyer

Driven by his passion for transforming mobility, Hermann together with Partners currently creates the 4NewMobility Leaders Forum helping leading stakeholders in the new mobility space to develop effective Business Development and Matchmaking strategies that leverage their strengths, engage their stakeholders, and drive business growth. He also empowers the mobility ecosystem with cutting-edge insights and knowledge through thought leadership and podcasts featuring new mobility pioneers who are driving the development and deployment of user-centric, sustainable, and inclusive transportation solutions.

Vice-President Smart City – Continental (2017 -2024)

As Vice President “Smart City” and Growth Field Leader “Smart Mobility Services”, Hermann led Continental’s global R&D activities in relation to strategy and innovation execution of smart city/smart mobility solutions like automated mobility as a service, fleet management, traffic analytics, car/bike sharing, and intelligent street lighting. In this context, Hermann drove partnerships with cities to implement future-oriented, citizen-centric solutions leveraging advanced technologies. He also worked on implementing data platforms and applications to enhance vehicle use comfort, safety and efficiency in collaboration with the Urban Software Institute.

CEO – ERTICO-ITS Europe (2008 – 2016)

Hermann managed the public-private partnership with around 120 members and 40 employees to carry out cooperation activities for developing and deploying Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Europe and beyond. He represented the partnership in European Parliament hearings and advisory bodies of the European Commission. He acted as a member of the High Level Group of GEARS 2030 (European Commission initiative), Vice-Chair of the iMobility Forum, Member of the Board of Directors of ITS World Congresses, Chair of the Board (2014-2015), Chair of the EU Commission’s eCall Implementation Platform (2009-2010). In 2016, he reported on the future of ITS in Europe to the House of Lords (UK).

Head of Government Relations Office, Brussels (Belgium) – Volkswagen (1995 – 2008)

Before he was working 15 years for the Volkswagen Group, where his last position was being the representative of the Volkswagen Group in Brussels towards the European Institutions. From 2003 – 2006, he was “Director Environmental Policy“ at ACEA negotiating the CO2 legislation and Mobile Air Conditioning Legislation for Cars. In 2003, as Workstream Leader “Vehicle Technology 2030 “within the World Business Council of Sustainable Development, Hermann developed and presented the position of the Workstream concerning a roadmap and a vision of the “Vehicle Technology in 2030” to the World Economic Forum in Davos. 

Hermann holds a Master degree in economics (State University of New York) and a PhD at Cambridge University (UK)
